Every recommendation, review, and book club pick is selected with purpose—to create a better, more enriching reading experience for you.
Many readers struggle to find meaningful stories from underrepresented voices, and I aim to make those discoveries easier and more accessible. My goal is to bring powerful Black narratives into the spotlight and build a community that appreciates their value.
Book of the Month
This month we are diving into Skye Falling by Mia McKenzie, a queer black woman in her late thirties whose life is a total mess.She’s spent most of her adult life running, avoiding confronting both her own traumas and the way she’s hurt others. She’s built a successful travel business, and she only comes home to Philadelphia a few times a year, preferring to stay away from her friends and family. Until she meets Vicky, a 12 year old result of a long-forgotten egg donation. Skye has no idea how to deal with this child who suddenly wants to know all about her and clearly needs a new friend. She isn’t equipped for parenthood in any way, and doesn’t want to be tied down to anyone or any place. But the world through a child’s eyes suddenly puts everything in perspective. Maybe being vulnerable and opening yourself to love is the true key for happiness. Join us for insightful conversations and a chance to connect with fellow readers passionate for Black Literature.
